So while the guys are amped for Comic-Con at the Javits Center right
now, tonight’s second annual American Pole Fitness Championships will
offer up another display of superhero-like skills and aerial stunts
(you maybe have seen the somewhat cheesy posters plastered around
town). Over the last few years, the pole fitness craze has turned
everyday girls (and guys) into gravity-defying acrobats with super-fit
physiques to match. One might even see this new fitness trend as what
belly dancing was in ’70s, a onetime outre dance form turned into a
mainstream workout producing great results. More than likely, there’s
even a chance you’ve even given it a spin at the gym or tried out a
class at a specialized center, like S Factor or Body & Pole, on the
urgings of a coworker.
