To mark the release of his latest title, "The Cat’s Table,” author Michael Ondaatje reads from his picaresque about two young boys sailing the high seas in the 1950s. The free event starts at 6:30 p.m. at the Paula Cooper Gallery at 521 West 21st Street. While the Sri Lankan-born, Canadian author is probably best known for "The English Patient,” he has penned several novels and books of poetry since that blockbuster flick from 1996. Told in his trademark poetic prose, his newest tale follows the journey of two boys to London via ship: "as the ship makes its way across the Indian Ocean, through the Suez Canal, into the Mediterranean, the boys tumble from one adventure to another, bursting all over the place like freed mercury.” Think Huckleberry Finn meets 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.
